Dr. Rumeet Billan is on a mission to transform workplaces into environments that enable trust, foster belonging, and build resilience. An award-winning and internationally recognized entrepreneur, learning architect, author, and humanitarian, she has spearheaded several groundbreaking studies including the pivotal 2022 survey on Belonging in the Workplace. In her compelling, research-backed presentations, Billan delivers state-of-the-art leadership training, equipping audiences with evidence-based strategies and tools for building inclusive and resilient workplace cultures.
After completing her PhD in Higher Education at the University of Toronto, alongside a collaborative doctoral program at The Munk School of Global Affairs in the dynamics of global change, Billan has gone on to design and facilitate programs, courses, and training sessions across various industries and sectors. She has also led numerous research studies, including her latest, the first international study on tall poppy syndrome. It revealed the impact of the silent systemic syndrome on women in the workplace. She also co-led the Canadian Happiness at Work study, in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association, in 2020.
Today, Billan is the CEO of Women of Influence+, the largest and most renowned women’s leadership organization in North America, and the President and CEO of Viewpoint Leadership, a leading learning company. She is also the author of the award-winning book, Who Do I Want to Become?, which won the 2018 Nautilus Award for Illustrated Children’s Fiction.
In recognition of her work, Billan has been named one of Canada’s “Top 100 Health Leaders” and “Top 10 Power Women” and twice named one of Canada’s “Top 100 Most Powerful Women”. She is also a regular guest on leading Canadian news programs, including Global News, CTV Morning Live, and Breakfast Television, with repeated features in Forbes, The Globe and Mail, and CP24.
Billan is passionate about creating platforms that encourage women, youth, communities, and organizations to envision what could be possible. Since 2004, she has contributed to several social impact initiatives to improve human welfare with specific focus on improving access and quality of education. In addition to building schools and libraries, as well as her support of scholarship programs, breakfast programs, and soccer tournaments, her vision has led to the creation and development of a teacher’s college in rural Kenya. She is the former Chair of Fora: Network for Change, a renowned global non-profit, and currently serves on the board of First Book Canada. In 2019, Billan, in collaboration with various publishers and authors, donated over 280,000 books to be distributed to Ontario children and youth in need.
